PN2.5 pipe is typically used in commercial and industrial piping, higher-rise buildings, and other installations where pressure or temperature conditions are more demanding than typical residential plumbing — for example, main risers serving multiple floors, or process piping in light industrial settings. It may also be selected where local codes or project specifications call for a higher safety margin on critical distribution lines.
Because this is a higher-cost pipe class relative to PN1.6 or PN2.0, it is generally reserved for the sections of a system that actually require the additional rating, rather than applied uniformly across an entire installation. As with the other pipe classes, project specifiers should confirm the actual operating conditions of the system against the pipe's rated performance, and should follow standard fusion welding practice when joining PN2.5 pipe to PPR fittings.
