PPR Reducing Elbow Pipe Fitting

PPR Reducing Elbow Pipe Fitting is designed to handle both a change of direction and a change of pipe diameter in one molded piece, rather than combining two separate fittings. It turns the pipe run at an angle — commonly 90 degrees — while also transitioning from a larger diameter socket on one side to a smaller diameter socket on the other.
This combined function can save some space and reduce the number of joints compared with using a standard elbow plus a separate reducer socket, which would need an extra length of pipe and an additional fused joint. In tight installation spaces, this can be a practical advantage, since fewer joints generally means fewer potential points of concern over the life of the installation.
As with other fittings in the series, the reducing elbow is typically produced from PP-R80/PP-R100 resin and connects via heat-fusion welding on both sockets. The internal bore is generally shaped to transition between the two diameters through the turn.
The reducing elbow is usually offered in the diameter and angle combinations most commonly required for residential and light commercial plumbing; installers should confirm the exact combinations available from the supplier.

Application Scenarios & Installation

The reducing elbow is most valuable in tight or space-constrained installation points where a pipe run must turn a corner and step down in diameter within a very limited area — for example, connecting a larger vertical riser to a smaller horizontal branch line at a wall or floor penetration, or feeding an individual appliance, faucet, or water heater from a larger distribution line via a single compact corner fitting. In prefabricated bathroom pods, compact utility closets and multi-fixture bathroom groups, where several supply lines have to be routed through a small service cavity, the reducing elbow lets installers combine two operations into one part, simplifying both the layout and the installation sequence.
The fitting is also common in commercial kitchen and hospitality plumbing, where equipment connections often sit at odd angles relative to the main supply line and require both a directional change and a smaller final connection size. In HVAC and mechanical rooms crowded with pipework, ductwork and equipment, using a reducing elbow instead of a separate reducer-plus-elbow combination can be the difference between a connection that fits cleanly and one that requires re-routing the entire section. For contractors and distributors, stocking this fitting alongside standard elbows and reducing sockets rounds out a complete PPR fitting offering capable of handling virtually any combination of direction change and diameter transition encountered on site.
