This fitting is commonly used to tap a branch line off a main PE supply line in irrigation systems, rural water networks, and general PE pipeline installations — for example, splitting off a line to a new sprinkler zone, a livestock water point, or a secondary building. Because compression fittings do not require fusion equipment, tees can often be added to an existing line in the field with comparatively simple tools.
Installation follows the same general steps as other compression fittings: pipe ends are cut square and fully inserted into each port before the nuts are tightened. Because the branch outlet is a load-bearing connection like the main run, installers should ensure it is adequately supported, particularly if a valve or other heavier component is attached to the branch.
