This fitting is commonly used where a PE line needs to turn a corner and immediately connect to a threaded fixture — for example, coming up out of the ground to a garden tap, or turning into a small valve at the edge of an irrigation zone. It is a practical choice in agricultural and landscaping piping where both a directional change and a threaded connection are needed at the same point.
As with other compression fittings, the pipe end should be cut square and fully inserted before the compression nut is tightened, and the threaded side should be connected with an appropriate sealant. Because this fitting is often installed at ground level or in exposed field conditions, checking that the compression joint remains properly tightened after initial installation is generally good practice.
