PPR Flange Fitting

PPR Flange Fitting is used to create a bolted, flanged connection between a PPR pipe and another flanged component — typically a metal pipe, a pump, a tank nozzle, or a valve with a matching flange. Unlike the socket-based fittings used throughout most of a PPR system, a flange joint is held together mechanically with bolts and a gasket rather than by heat fusion at that specific connection point.
The fitting itself is fused to the PPR pipe on one side using standard heat-fusion welding, while the other side presents a flat, bolt-hole-drilled face designed to mate with a corresponding metal flange. This makes the flange fitting the standard way to transition from an all-plastic PPR piping system to metal equipment or piping, at points where a fully fused plastic-to-metal joint is not practical or where the connection needs to be unbolted for equipment removal or maintenance.

Application Scenarios & Installation

PPR flange fittings are typically used at larger pipe diameters and in commercial or industrial settings — connecting a PPR distribution main to a pump inlet or outlet, to a storage tank nozzle, or to a large metal isolation valve. Because the flange connection can be unbolted, it is also a practical choice at points in a system where equipment may need to be removed or serviced periodically, such as at a filtration unit or heat exchanger.
Installation involves fusing the PPR side of the fitting to the pipe run in the usual way, then bolting the flange face to its mating flange with an appropriate gasket in between to ensure a pressure-tight seal. Because flange connections rely on even bolt tension across the joint, installers typically tighten the bolts in a staged, crossing pattern rather than sequentially around the flange to avoid uneven stress on the gasket and fitting face.
