PPR Cross 4-Way Pipe Fitting

PPR Cross 4-Way Pipe Fitting is a more specialized connector, used where a single junction needs to distribute or collect flow in four directions rather than the three handled by a standard tee. With four sockets arranged around a central body, this fitting lets installers build a compact distribution node without combining separate tees or elbows.
Because it combines what would otherwise take two separate tee fittings, the cross fitting can reduce both the number of joints in a system and the space a junction occupies, which can be useful in crowded mechanical rooms or underfloor heating manifolds. Each of the four ports is fused to its connecting pipe using the same heat-fusion process as other fittings in the range, and the wall sections around the central junction are generally designed to handle the combined stress of four connections meeting at one point.
Like other fittings in the range, the cross is typically produced from PP-R80/PP-R100 resin. Its symmetrical geometry means it can be installed with any of the four ports as the inlet, which gives some flexibility when laying out manifold-style networks.
The cross fitting is less commonly used in basic residential plumbing than sockets, elbows or tees, but is a useful component for more complex distribution layouts; available sizes are typically narrower than for the other fittings in the range and should be confirmed directly with the supplier.

Application Scenarios & Installation

The cross fitting is most often found at the heart of compact distribution manifolds rather than along a simple straight run. In underfloor heating systems, it is used to build small, space-efficient manifold assemblies where a supply line needs to split into several heating loops within a confined mechanical closet or recess. In agricultural and greenhouse irrigation networks, cross fittings allow a main feed line to split into a grid pattern, supplying four separate drip or sprinkler zones from a single junction point rather than requiring additional elbows and tees to achieve the same layout.

The fitting also appears in commercial HVAC hydronic systems, where a chilled or heated water loop must distribute flow to multiple air-handling units from a single compact header, and in central utility rooms where several branch lines converge into a shared collection point before returning to a boiler, pump, or filtration unit. Because it eliminates the need for two separate tee fittings joined by a short pipe stub, the cross fitting is particularly valued by installers working in tight spaces — service shafts, ceiling voids, or pre-fabricated bathroom and kitchen pod units — where minimizing the number of components and joints simplifies both installation and future maintenance access.
