PPR Double Union Elbow Fitting

PPR Double Union Elbow Fitting combines the directional function of a standard 90° elbow with union connections on both ends, rather than plain fusion sockets. This means the entire elbow section can be removed and reinstalled without cutting the surrounding pipe, since both connections are made through threaded union collars rather than permanent fused joints.
This fitting is generally chosen for situations where an elbow is likely to need periodic removal, for example, at a connection point near equipment that requires occasional access, or where a section of pipe may need to be temporarily disconnected during future maintenance. The trade-off compared with a standard fused elbow is a slightly more complex fitting with two additional sealing points (the union seals), rather than a single continuous fused wall.

Application Scenarios & Installation

Double union elbows are typically used near equipment or access points where a directional pipe connection may need to be disassembled more than once over the life of the installation — for instance, near a pump, filter housing, or piece of process equipment where the surrounding pipework occasionally needs to be moved aside for servicing. They are less commonly used in general residential plumbing, where a standard fused elbow is usually sufficient.
Installation involves fusing the pipe ends into each union half in the usual way, then assembling the union collars to complete the joint and form the turn. Because the fitting includes two removable seals rather than a single fused connection, it is generally worth periodically checking these seals for tightness, particularly if the fitting is disconnected and reconnected multiple times during the system's service life.
