PPR Double Union Tee Fitting

PPR Double Union Tee Fitting combines the branching function of a standard tee fitting with union connections on two of its three ports, allowing that section of the branch to be disconnected and reconnected without cutting the pipe. This is typically used where a branch takeoff leads to equipment or a sub-system that may need to be removed for servicing more than once during the life of the installation.
As with the double union elbow, this fitting trades a fully fused, single-piece joint for the flexibility of a removable connection at two of its ports. The remaining fused socket (where present) connects to the main run in the standard way, while the union-equipped ports allow the branch, or the continuing main line, to be taken apart as needed.

Application Scenarios & Installation

This fitting is used at branch points that lead to equipment requiring periodic access — for example, a branch feeding a pump, a treatment unit, or a piece of process equipment that is occasionally removed for cleaning or replacement. It allows that specific branch to be disconnected without needing to cut into the main distribution line, which can otherwise mean draining and reworking a larger section of the system.
During installation, the fused port (or ports) are welded to the pipe first, and the union halves are then assembled and tightened to complete the remaining connections. Because there are more sealing points than in a standard fused tee, this fitting is best reserved for locations where the ability to disconnect a section is genuinely useful, rather than used as a general substitute for a standard tee throughout a system.
