PPR Wall Plate Elbow with Female Thread is a variation on the standard brass insert elbow, built specifically for fixtures that mount directly onto a wall — such as wall-mounted taps, shower mixers, or hose bibs. In addition to the 90° turn and the female-threaded outlet, this fitting includes a flat mounting plate with screw holes, allowing it to be fixed securely to a wall stud or backing board before the wall finish is completed.
This extra fixing point matters because wall-mounted fixtures place more mechanical load on the connection than an in-line fitting does — turning a tap handle or connecting a hose applies torque and pulling force directly to the fitting. Without a secure mounting point, that load would be carried entirely by the fused pipe joint behind the wall, which is not ideal over the long term. The mounting plate lets the fitting be anchored to the structure itself, taking that mechanical load off the plumbing joint.
